Michael Sim

Chairman

Mr. Sim has been a Partner in Ernst and Young, Singapore for the last 17 years. He has over 30 years of experience in auditing and risk advisory services and has served clients in a wide range of industries worldwide. He was the Risk Advisory Business Leader for the Far East Area, which covered 11 countries and employed more than 1,300 professionals providing solutions for business and technology risks, anti-fraud, fraud investigation, actuarial and risks specific to the financial services industry.

While balancing a high profile position in the financial industry, he is also actively involved in the community as a Board and Audit Committee member of the Catholic Welfare Services, Singapore, as well as a member of the Catholic Archdiocesan Commission for Missionary Activity.

Lee Poh Wah

Director

Mr. Lee is the CEO of the Lien Foundation. He leads the development of entrepreneurial practices in philanthropy and has been instrumental in steering the Foundation to advocate better care for the dying and to tackle water woes in Asia. Prior to joining Lien Foundation, Mr. Lee was in the civil service, championing the social entrepreneurship movement to enhance vibrancy and financial sustainability in the non-profit sector. He previously held several investment and business development positions in the private sector.

Tan Chin Hwee

Director

Mr. Tan is the Asia Pacific Chief Executive Officer of Trafigura Group, one of the largest commodity traders in the world. A 20-year veteran in asset management, he was a founding partner in Asia for Apollo Global Management before joining Trafigura.

He was voted by The Hedge Fund Journal as among the top 40 emerging absolute return investors globally and was also named as Best Asia Credit Hedge Fund Manager by The Asset. Mr. Tan was honoured as a World Economic Forum Young Global Leaders 2010.

He received a Bachelor of Accountancy degree and graduated with Second Class Upper Honours in 1995. He is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and is both an Australian and Singapore-registered Certified Public Accountant (CPA). He completed a Master programme at Yale University and an Executive programme at Harvard Kennedy School.

Steve Puckett OBE

Director

Mr. Puckett has extensive experience in the oil and gas industry over more than 30 years, with 20 of those in Asia. A Chartered Engineer (CEng), he is a Fellow of the Institution of Chemical Engineers (FIChemE) and is also a certified leadership coach. Having previously operated at senior corporate levels with regional responsibilities with a major oil company, he is now an advisor to leading energy businesses and is a frequent speaker/chair of international conferences. In 2000, he established Tri-Zen International, an advisory business, which has a primary focus on energy industries in Asia. He also provides strategic advice and services to the private equity, venture capital and corporate communities across Asia.

In Singapore, he is the President of the British Chamber of Commerce and is also Chairman of Singapore Polytechnic’s academic advisory board for the Chemical & Life Sciences faculty. He is also an active board member for the Centre for Asian Philanthropy and has a number of other community and business interests. He was awarded the OBE in the Queen’s New Year’s Honours 2014 for his services to British business in Singapore.

Puah Aik Num

Director

Mr Puah is currently the Deputy Director for Technology and Chief Specialist for Water Treatment at PUB, Singapore National Water Agency. Appointed in 2004, he was involved in the establishment of the new Technology Office in PUB, providing leadership to drive PUB’s R&D initiative, identifying and commissioning novel and other test-bedding projects with universities, research institutions and water industrial partners. He also supports the Environment and Water Industry Development (EWI) initiatives and programmes for technology development and the promotion of water industries in Singapore.

A trained engineer, he has over 30 years of experience in the water sector, and had played an active role in the planning and design of water distribution networks for Singapore’s new town development, as well as enhancing the operation and performance of water treatment plants.

Ong Lay Khiam

Director

Before his retirement on September 2013, Mr Ong was an Executive Director at UBS Wealth Management. He has been working in local financial institutions since 1971, holding various leadership positions. For the period 2007-2008, he was the inaugural Executive Director of the Lien Ying Chow Legacy Fellowship at the Nanyang Technological University while concurrently appointed by the university as an Adjunct Associate Professor.

Mr Ong is currently an Honourary Council Member of the Singapore Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry and a member of the Investment Committee of the Chinese Development Assistance Council. He also serves on the boards of two companies listed at the Singapore Exchange as Independent Director. Mr Ong holds a First Class Honours degree in Accountancy from the Nanyang University and a Master Degree in Accounting and Finance from the London School of Economics and Political Science, University of London.

Elaine Lim

Director

With more than 30 years of experience, Elaine is one of Singapore‘s pioneering corps of local communication professionals. After a rich and varied background in journalism, hospitality and a two-year stint at The Singapore Exchange, she moved into consultancy practice. Elaine’s diverse experience spans nearly every sector of business- from capital markets, banking and finance, manufacturing, hospitality, professional services, logistics, property to FMCGs, retail and F&B. She is also recognised for her strong track record in government campaigns and programmes on investment, social security, skills development, public transportation and social issues.

She spearheaded the thrust into capital market transactions and investor relations, To date, she has led Citigate Dewe Rogerson, i.MAGE to support the launch of more than 270 IPOs, representing more than 30% of all SGX-ST listed companies. She initiated a new course in investor relations at the Singapore Management University in 2007 which she taught for two semesters as an adjunct lecturer. She currently serves on the Board of Singapore Land Authority and the Governing Council of the Singapore Institute of Directors.

A graduate of the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business, Elaine was named the PR Professional of the Year in 1995 and awarded the Lifetime PR Achievement Award in 2012 by the Institute of Public Relations Singapore.

Tan Soon Keat

Director

After graduating from Chung Ling High School (1973) and Han Chiang High School (1975) in Penang, Dr Tan pursued his study at the University of Auckland, graduating with BE(Civil) in 1978, ME(Civil) in 1980 and PhD (Engineering) in 1983 . He is a member of the Institute of Engineers, Singapore and Professional Engineer, Singapore. Dr Tan joined Nanyang Technological Institute in 1984 as a Lecturer, and became Associate Professor in 1999. Dr Tan holds senior position in NTU. He is Director, NTU‐MPA Maritime Research Centre, an inter‐school research centre since its inception in 2001, Deputy Executive Director of NEWRI since 2010, Director‐NEWRItech in 2013.

Over the years, Dr Tan has established close academic and research links with universities in Vietnam, China, Australia, United States of America and United Kingdom. Dr Tan has also provided consultancy services to more than 60 companies in Singapore, in such areas as surge analysis, drainage and hydraulic design, physical and numerical modelling of hydraulic and coastal processes.

Koh Lian Hock

CEO

Mr Koh is the Chief Executive Officer of Lien AID. Providing strategic leadership and ensuring corporate governance, he leads the Lien AID team and is responsible for operations in Singapore and overseas offices. He holds a Masters in Engineering from the National University of Singapore, and is armed with extensive commercial experience in business development. Fuelled with a strong passion for development work, he has a unique perspective and a holistic vision to elevate the standards of development work in the non-profit sector.
